Additional learning support
At our school, we make sure every student is ready to learn and feel included. We support students with disability and additional learning needs to join in all parts of school life. Your child doesn’t need a formal diagnosis to get support in a mainstream class, and help can start at any time during their school journey.
Support that fits your child's needs
Some students need extra support to feel confident and succeed at school. We work closely with families to create support plans and make adjustments that meet each child’s unique needs.
Additional learning support can include:
- Teachers and support staff collaborating with families (and with students, when needed)
- Specialist help for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
- Tailored programs for high potential and gifted students to meet their advanced learning needs
- Small group tutoring focused on literacy and numeracy
- Regular check-ins to review and adjust support plans
Classroom adjustments may include:
- Accessible classrooms and assistive technology
- Instructional resources suited to individual needs
- Extra guidance, simplified content, or a different focus during lessons
Assessment adjustments may involve:
- Extra time to complete tasks
- Simplified language
- Breaks during assessments
- Alternative ways to demonstrate learning, such as oral presentations instead of written work
We identify when a student needs support by:
- Teachers noticing changes in learning or behaviour
- Reviewing assessment results and learning progress
- Parents and carers sharing concerns or requesting help
Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed. If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.
