We identify these students early, noticing their quick learning or strengths in creativity, leadership, problem-solving, or sports. We keep them engaged with lessons and activities that challenge and inspire them.

Our learning approach
At our school, we use explicit teaching, which means we clearly explain what students are learning, why it matters, and how to do it step by step. This approach helps students understand new ideas by breaking them down into manageable parts.
Our learning is student-centred, inclusive, and practical. We’re committed to fairness and making sure every student has access to learning. Our teachers use proven strategies and regularly update their skills through professional development to provide the best teaching.

We are part of the Muswellbrook Learning Community consisting of six NSW Department of Education schools in the Upper Hunter Network. As part of this Learning Community we engage in collaboration and reflection, to deepen teacher and leader knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice to support all students.
